- Usually, the best way to redeem points is an outright award with no co-pay, but in this case I was surprised to find real value in redeeming a “Premium Award” rather than paying cash.
- I have been staying at the Hilton Beijing for more than 14 years now, and while this isn’t a new property, I still like the service and the location here quite a bit, and due to this much of a stay history, I also have quite a bit of comparison for the rates.
- In the distant past, it was possible to book a stay here for 30,000 Hilton Honors points, but that price has now gone up to 40,000, and in this case (since no standard room was available), 46,000 for a Deluxe Plus room.
- I didn’t have 46k in my account. In fact, the leftover balance I had was only 31,100, so I looked at the regular rates and how much a cash&points discount would take off the total.
